Although this is my first ever blog, I have been writing about and styling food for over 25 years (how did that happen so fast) and have been fortunate enough to do for a job what I love to do for fun. I began cooking and styling food for photography in London and from there I began developing and writing recipes. This brought about many commissions for both food magazines and cookery books (check out the book link to see more about my books) and even a stint as food editor with Options magazine, now sadly defunct.
My husband, food photographer Ian Wallace and I then relocated to Sydney where we continued our work as a team. I began to get involved in styling the props for shoots as well as the food and I found this really exciting and rewarding. Again I spent my time between freelance commissions and as a food editor on several magazine titles including Inside Out, Real Living magazine and (weirdly enough) Grazia UK.
Recently we have relocated to SW France where we continue working together for clients around the world. These include Delicious magazine, Taste.com.au, Food & Travel magazine, Grazia, Elle Decoration, Living France (I am their cookery editor at present) and The Mail on Sunday.
I hope you enjoy reading the blog. I wanted to share how I and my husband work together as a team with an insight into the various stages and workings of a food shoot, from the inspiration for a particular feature to the finished image, accompanied by the recipe for everyone to try.
